Libby Jones Named Texas (North) State Rep

Running since 2004, an injury led her to start volunteering with the Dallas Running Club. A couple months later she was on the Dallas Running Club board and found herself chosen as President-Elect within 6 months. From 2007-2008, Libby was the President of the Dallas Running Club and grew the club from 1000 members to over 3400 in just two years. Her efforts with the club earned her the 2008 RRCA Scott Hamilton Outstanding Club President of the Year. While DRC President, she was also the race director of the 4500-entrant Dallas Running Club Half Marathon, which was the 2007 RRCA Southern Region Half Marathon Championship, 2008 RRCA Texas Half Marathon Championship, and will be the 2009 RRCA Southern Region Half Marathon Championship. Libby was also the webmaster of the Dallas Running Club's website the last three years - in 2006 and 2007 the club's website was one of the top 3 large club websites before winning the top title of Best Large Club Website in 2008. The last couple years, Libby has served on various RRCA committees, including 2007 Road Runner of the Year, 2008 Road Race of the Year, and the 2008 RRCA Kids Run the Nation grant selection panel.

Libby is the Co-Race Director for Heels and Hills Half Marathon, a 1300-entrant non-profit women's half marathon in Irving. She is very focused on outreach at a grassroots level to get and keep more people active in a fun, unintimidating environment.

Previously working many years in the corporate world as an actuary (a mathematician that quantifies risk), she is now a stay-at-home mom of her 18 month old daughter. Her husband Steve is a computer programmer for Gearbox Software, a company that makes video games.
