Jul 10 RRCA Welcomes New California State Rep
As the number of RRCA clubs in California continue to grow, this necessitated that Northern California which had been paired with Nevada for many years and represented by David Cotter be split off. Dave Cotter who is now serving as the RRCA Vice President has been an RRCA State Representative for 13 years. However, a newly adopted RRCA Board policy outlines that Board members can no longer maintain a State Rep position while they serve on the RRCA Board of Directors so David with this assistance of George Rehment has facilitated the realignment of California.Below are the new State Rep boundaries for CA: Southern CA will be bordered by Mexico in the south, Arizona to the east, and highways 50 18, 14, and 126 to the north or Mojave Desert to Barstow to Palmsdale to Ventura. Eastern CA will be bordered to the east by Nevada, to the north by Oregon, to the south of South CA's northern boundary, and to the west by highway 5 to north of San Jose to through SF bay to Vallejo to highways 80, 505, and back to highway 5. Coastal CA will be bordered to the north by Oregon, west by the Pacific Ocean and to the south just north of Ventura, and east to the western boundary of Eastern CA. RRCA WELCOMES NEW EASTERN CA STATE REP - SIMONE ADAIR Simone loves to run, walk, swim, and bike, but more than that, she loves to introduce a healthy lifestyle to her sedentary friends. A well-known artist, Simone lives in the thriving art district of Jingletown, an industrial section of Oakland. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a photographer, she attended the Miami School of Art. The native California then returned home and continued her education with a degree in Human Relations from Golden Gate University. As a longtime American Red Cross volunteer, Simone teaches both CPR and Disaster classes. She also continues her service to her country through the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary where she serves as Division Vice Commander overseeing an area from South San Francisco to Marin County. To all of her activities, she brings a passion for health and wellness. As a disabled veteran, she discovered first-hand the benefits of an active lifestyle. This led to signing up for a 5K, but she soon discovered longer was better and was doing half marathons every chance she could. Her love of the sport was recognized and she was asked to Captain the Bay Area Chapter of the Achilles Track Club for disabled athletes, including a local program for the Freedom Team of Wounded Warriors. She also leads a local walking group called the Alameda Alleycats and is a proud member of the East Bay Front Runners & Walkers. Simone made herself known by being assistant director at the wildly successful RRCA Convention in San Francisco. Attendees enjoyed her smiles and hugs as she welcome conventioneers to the City by the Bay! ###
