RRCA National Championship Updates

RRCA NATIONAL ULTRA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

The Tahoe Rim Trail 100 Mile run served as the 2009 RRCA National Ultra Championship. With over 20,000 feet of total elevation change, a high and low elevation point of 9000 and 6800 feet, respectively, and temperatures reportedly over 100 degrees in many areas, the men’s competition saw last year’s Co-National Champion, Eric Skaden of Folsom, CA return to claim his full share of the title. In the women’s race, a first time champion was crowned as Bree Lambert, of San Jose, CA, took the lead from the starting gun and led the female athletes from all three races (50K, 50 Mile, and 100 Mile) which she never relinquished to the finish in 23:42:32.

Female: Roxanne Woodhouse, age 46, with a time of 24:14.4
Male: Robert Evans , age 43, with a time of 20:46.5

RRCA Grandmaster Ultra Champion presented by Sports Authority
Male: Davy Crockett, age 50, with a time of 25:43.5
Female: No female over 50 finished the event

All RRCA Ultra Champions received $100 gift cards presented by Sports Authority.

RRCA NATIONAL 5K CHAMPIONSHIP

If you haven't already signed-up for the Woodstock 5K in Anniston, AL, which is the 2009 RRCA National 5K Championship, then hurry up, because there is no race day registration. RRCA Champions will be awarded $100 gift certificates from Sports Authority along with their commemorative RRCA Champion’s plaque. RRCA NATIONAL HALF MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIP

The field is growing daily for the News and Sentinel Half Marathon, the RRCA National Half Marathon Championship, slated to take to the streets-and Stadium Field-on Sunday, August 23, 2009. The top male and female finishers each will receive a check for $3,000 along with their $100 gift cards from Sports Authority and RRCA Champion’s commemorative plaques.
