Reta Repeats at RRCA Half Marathon Championship

PARKERSBURG, WV (Jess Mancini) – Alene Reta, age 27, of Ethiopian, won The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon, the RRCA National Half Marathon Championship, for the third straight year.

Reta crossed the Market Street finish line in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 15 seconds, off his mark from 2008, but well ahead of the pack in the 23rd running of the annual Parkersburg road race. Hellen Jemutai, 27, of Kenya, won the women's half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes and 57 seconds.

Gideon Mutsiva, 42, of Eufuala won the Masters Men with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 57 second. Masters Women winner was Albina Gallyamova, 45, of Russia with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes and 14 seconds. Winner of the Grand Masters Men was Thomas Dever of Terre Haute, Ind., with a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 20 seconds. Lee DePietro, 51, of Ruxton, Md., won the Grand Masters Women with a time of 1 hour, 25 minutes and 39 seconds.
